Julie & Julia 2009, ****, PG-13

Starring:  Amy Adams, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Chris Messina

I wasn’t too thrilled to see this flick, but since a friend wanted to go, I went.  When your expectations are low, usually the outcome is pretty good  However, I am a fan of Meryl Streep, and that probably helped.

This is the story of a present day writer, Julie Powell played by Amy Adams (based on her true story) of her documenting on a blog about the experiences cooking every recipe over the course of a year via Julia Child’s cook book.  The film goes back and forth between Child’s life in France learning to cook in the 50s, and present day Julie learning to cook and blog part time, as a full time federal cubical worker, in NYC.

Meryl Streep portrays Child, and doesn’t one heck of an outstanding, hilarious job.  It’s another film about passion for ones career, hobbies, and overall getting through the messy times with the motivation of a significant other.  Great supporting husband roles by Stanley Tucci, and Chris Messina.

This is a perfect, fun movie, comedy-drama.  You will certainly laugh; enjoy it with a friend.
